Big 3 Budgeting Clinic

If you’re a first-gen breadwinner, you’ve got lots of layers to juggle: family, self-care, and trying to live your best life without crises and guilt weighing you down. That’s why we’re hosting this special education clinic, co-led by New Dimes co-founders Berna Anat and Kristen Brillantes, with expert guidance from our guest, Bethel Habte.

Bethel is an Accredited Financial Counselor® candidate, and trust—she’s not here to lecture you. She’s here to help you create a budget that gives you clarity about your financial picture, and is actually useful for your day to day real life. During the session, Bethel will guide us through each section step by step of a budget from a first-gen lens, and you’ll follow along, filling it out from the comfort (and safety!) of your own space. Yes, we are in get sh*t done mode.

We’ll keep the room open for questions, discussion, and collective support—because at New Dimes we strongly believe in “don’t do math alone.”

And for those of you ready to dive in solo and just need focus time, we’ll also have a Peace & Quiet breakout room where you can protect your time and get 'er done.

About Bethel

Bethel is a financial coach and the founder of Good Bones Financial Coaching. In a past life she was an audio documentary reporter, producer and editor and made stories for Radiolab, This American Life, Resistance and more. In addition to building her practice, doing yoga, learning French, and stealing cuddles with her neighbor’s dog, she writes about the human side of personal finances, including the story of how she paid off nearly $60,000 in student loans, in Deconstructing Money. She also writes a music and pop culture newsletter called "wilt" (what I'm listening to). She lives in Brooklyn with her husband.

A friendly reminder...

This session is all about sharing knowledge and empowering you with insights, but keep in mind, it’s not personalized financial, legal, or tax advice. Our AFC candidate is here to give you general guidance, but for anything specific to your own situation, be sure to check in with your personal advisor, tax pro, or attorney. This chat’s all about information, not a client-advisor relationship. Soak up what speaks to you, and make moves that feel right for you!

Will this be recorded?

This session will be recorded and will be stored safely within the New Dimes network membership, so our members can safely revisit it anytime.
